Consider whether an area of life (home, school, work) feels balanced. For example, look at your closet. At this moment, does it reflect who you are? Are there items in your closet that really suit you and how you hope to show up in the world? Are there others that don’t? Are the items in your closet hanging in places that make sense? When you enter your closet, does it feel balanced and soothing? Is it pleasing to look at?

Perhaps there are summer dresses even though the weather is beginning to cool. Or maybe there is a stack of warm sweaters in your closet even though temperatures are beginning to warm. In other words, is your closet in the right relationship with the weather in your area and the nature of your daily life. Do you have what you need? Or do you have any excess that is throwing the whole thing off kilter?

Begin removing anything that feels misaligned with your sense of self and the reality of life around you. It may help to give thanks for each item as you usher it out of the closet. Set your intention to store the items, gift them, or donate them.

Then, move back into your closet to gauge the balance of items that remain.

 

Continue to move items around taking time to periodically step back and take stock of how your closet feels as you look at it. Try closing the door and stepping away. Then open the door, and notice your first impression. Continue to reset your closet until it feels harmonious. There are no rules to achieve this.

 

The process and the final outcome will be uniquely balanced and in harmony with each individual. And that is the whole point! It is all about how you, as an individual, are in relationship with the world, the items, and people around you.
