Welcome to the New Moon Solar Eclipse at twenty-one degrees of Libra. There is so much that could be written about this eclipse, so I’ll just highlight a few things that stand out to me.
The ruler of this eclipse is Venus newly stationed in Virgo. This flavors the energy in a few ways. First, a Virgo Venus rulership in the eclipse’s twelfth house lends a spiritual closet-cleaning vibe. This offers strong support to the Libran South Node’s call to purge those insidious insecurities that routinely degrade our relationships. Virgo Venus will help us sort, identify, and toss any beliefs, stories, and habits that keep us feeling disempowered within our relationships. Because the twelfth house is the realm of the subconscious, whatever releases during this eclipse will likely feel deeper and more impactful than in past eclipses. Second, a Venus Virgo is much more discerning than other Venuses. Under this influence, we aren’t as likely to dole out casual compliments or insincere platitudes. Instead, we are compelled towards honesty. Be on the lookout for kind words from our partners during this time, as they are more likely to be genuine and true.
It should be noted, however, that Mercury is navigating an exact opposition to Chiron in Aries. Our minds may be consumed by collective or personal wounds regarding independence and sovereignty. Venus is attempting to help Mercury heal the stories of victimhood so we can harvest the wisdom and prepare ourselves for more elevated relationships.
Luckily Libra Mercury and Virgo Venus are in mutual reception, so they are actively helping us combine honesty, pragmatism, and discernment with a compassionate, collaborative spirit. This is a beautiful integration worthy of some time and attention.
Mars, ruler of the North Node (and currently of Chiron), is now in Scorpio. Though Mars is still collaborating with Venus (in a sextile aspect), it has far more clarity and personal power than it had in September. With the data it is collecting from Venus, this Scorpio Mars has us wanting to take action that feels serious and resolute with consequences that are lasting, if not permanent.
The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse is: A CHILD GIVING BIRDS A DRINK AT A FOUNTAIN
Perhaps this eclipse is allowing us to return to our factory settings when it comes to relationships. A child offering assistance and love to a bird isn’t expecting money, validation, praise, or loyalty in return. There are no power games or strings attached. There are no score-cards or old stories of victimhood. A child relating and interacting with nature has not yet allowed their ego-mind to take over. They still feel their wholeness and their eternality and have no use for the transactional type of love that permeates our adult relationships.
What if we remembered our wholeness and our eternal nature? What if we stopped needing so much from others? What if most of our interactions were motivated by curiosity, creativity, and joyful collaboration?
Pluto, still squaring the nodal axis, is trying to get us there. It is working with Neptune and Uranus to produce the right energetic alchemy for a quantum leap in our approach to relationships.
Let’s be brave enough to imagine a new ‘self,’ a new ‘other,’ and a new way of being together.
With Love and Moonlight
