King of Swords reversed, Page of Wands reversed, Eight of Cups upright, Four of Wands reversed

The reading for today succinctly sums up this year so far:

Knight of Swords reversed: separation ideology gone wild (world politics)

Page of Wands reversed: populations of people completely unmoored (war-torn nations, those affected by immigration policy, and the general public)

Eight of Cups upright: a power move to simply de-invest in this reality and a yearning to anchor into something deeper and more profound (everyone right now)

Four of Wands reversed: the temporary upending of personal sense of stability (everyone right now)

The wisdom of The Minstrel (King of Stones/Pentacles) reminds us to retain our power as we journey away from one reality into another. The King of Stones is calm, grounded, at-ease, and in control as he strums his instrument with his loyal dog sitting happily and patiently by his side.

This image is particularly striking for me. We recently adopted a puppy. She is calm sometimes, wild and out of control at other times. The message is clear. The puppy (and my external reality at large) reflects my inner tumult. Some days I am empowered, other days I am adrift . . . panicked feet trying to touch solid ground.

The King of Stones knows that nothing has gone wrong. It’s just that the story isn’t over yet. No need to freak out if the final page hasn’t even been written yet. The beautiful thing is that the last page will never be written. We can always take the long view as there will always be another chapter.
