We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty

Scorpio Full Moon Ritual: Reframing the Dark Side

by Casey Wick Abley

Most of us, if we are being honest, have something about ourselves that we don’t like. Maybe we consciously or subconsciously deny it or hide it.

At this Scorpio Full Moon, the ritual is simple, though perhaps not easy.

Scorpio is an observer and takes what it notices to new depths, dissecting it and reassembling it into something empowering. Grist for the mill. Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Begin this ritual by cleansing your space and yourself in some intentional way. This supports clarity, because this ritual, is like trying to see in the dark. We prepare ourselves by tuning up our night vision. We don’t want to wash away our dark side; we simply want to wash away what stands between us and our dark side.

So, it can be as easy as washing your hands and sweeping the floor. It could be dusting your altar. It could be smudging, casting a circle, and/or taking deep inhale breaths while sweeping your arms up around you and over your head, then exhaling while sweeping your arms back down to your

sides, clearing the energy around you.

Once this step is complete, it is time to see something about yourself that you don’t like. Something that you wish you could change. Give yourself time to let it come into your awareness. When you have the piece of you in your mind’s eye, begin to explore a new way of relating to it. Ask some questions:

Feel free to allow a conversation to unfold about this part yourself, keeping an open mind and an open heart to whatever new perspectives show up.

Once you feel complete, journal about your experience or simply give thanks to the Moon as your witness. Ask the Moon to continue to hold space for all parts of you at all times.

Why don’t I like this about myself?

Did someone tell me this thing was bad?

What is my story around this part of me?

Does it serve me in any way?

Can I embrace it and integrate it?

Or, can I embrace it and release it?

Can I simply embrace it?

The devil ain't got no power over me. The devil come, and me shake hands with the devil. Devil have his part to play. Devil's a good friend, too... because when you don't know him, that's the time he can mosh you down

Revenge only engenders violence, not clarity and true peace. I think liberation must come from within

I think people should read fairy tales, because we're hungry for a mythology that will speak to our fears

The thoughts of letting go of everything I love overwhelms like a tsunami of sorrow

Scorpio Full Moon Reflections

Reflection Through Broken Glass

Where am I holding on too tightly?

Am I making an aspect of life too complex?

What is the source of my power?

Do I allow other people to have power?

Have I done any shadow-work?

What part of my life is transforming?

Am I at peace with the birth-death cycle?

Is there a deeper aspect of life I need to explore?

What secrets am I keeping?

Who can I trust?

Am I trustworthy?

Are my finances in order?

It may be helpful to think back six months to review your Scorpio New Moon intentions

And spring will come, and the buds will open,
but in my eyes it shall never die
the boundless white field...

And summer will come and ears of grain
shall ring. But in my eyes still, bright as day,
the boundless white field...

And life will pass and death will cloud,
but in the coffin I'll open my eyes
into the boundless white field...

And midnight will come and I will rise from the grave
and I'll direct my pensive steps
to that boundless white field...
