The Autumnal Equinox

Happy Equinox!

Today we bow to Venus, ruler of this Autumnal Equinox. She welcomes the sun into the sign of Libra and invites us all to contemplate what it means to be in balance.

Yesterday, I wrote a long, convoluted description of all the storylines currently unfolding in the sky: Venus’s summer journey through Leo, her rulership of the South Node, the Venus/Mars sextile during Mars’s exploration of Libran territory, the kite formation with the sun at the tail and Neptune at the nose.

Thank goodness for the delete button.

The more complex a story, the less useful it is. My attempts to intellectualize interconnected patterns eternally unfolding is a lesson in hubris. So, today, I am dropping into the heart to simply feel them.

And what I feel is uncomfortable.

Squeezed between my desire for an ethereal, cosmic existence and the reality of having to clean the house and deal with the pile of dishes in the sink. Squeezed between my desire to write an epic transformational blog and the reality of feeling irritable and short-tempered.

But as the brilliant Tara Brach points out, it all belongs. The ugly, the uncomfortable, and the ill-tempered are part of life and are sources of wisdom. And compassionately embracing both ends of a polarity pulls the tension release valve. It’s amazing how quickly a sense of peace and spaciousness can return with a little acceptance.

So maybe navigating this Autumnal Equinox and the North Node/South Node axis doesn’t require balancing precariously on the fulcrum between two opposites. Maybe it requires expanding so big that we can include the opposites without fear or judgment. Expanding so big that we become eternal, eternally safe, and eternally free.

Spirit is asking us to take flight with the Owl and Neptune. Dissolve. Elevate. Gain a new perspective. What used to look like knots, we now see is a sacred work of art, a symbol of life's perpetual mystery, a mandala.

Neptune (our subconscious) in Pisces is at the nose of a kite formation, beckoning the Sun (our collective ego) to dissolve all boundaries and begin again with an elevated, birds-eye view. Don’t worry, it’s a safe ride with grand Earth Trine planets waiting at the ready. The Capricorn Moon, the Virgo Mercury, and the Taurus Jupiter will pull you back down to Earth and make practical use of your time with Neptune.

Perhaps there is some part of your life that could really use a fresh look or a creative reset. Perhaps there is a challenge that has been plaguing you, but after a little daydream, it is easily solved. We may just find that Nebulous Neptune in Pisces can facilitate a quantum leap in practical, earthly matters.

For today, take a break from your stresses. Walk in the woods, take a bath, paint, sing, nap. In these uncontrolled spaces where our ego is irrelevant, we often find creative solutions directly from Source.
