Welcome to the New Moon in Pisces, 2024.

For some, Pisces can feel like a dream, a refuge, a portal into unseen realms, an invitation to release and reform into something new. For others who rely on solid boundaries and known quantities, Pisces can trigger panic . . . as though their foundation has just turned to sand.

Pisces New Moons are a time to contemplate our experience of uncertainty. Does uncertainty inspire the thrill of untapped potential? Or does it spark fear that what we have built will crumble? How easily can we go with the flow? How much faith do we have that things will work out? Do we trust life? Do we trust divine timing? Or do we have to force things to happen? (See the previous post for more on the Sun and Saturn in Pisces).

Generally speaking, this is an important time to set intentions regarding our relationship with Piscean energy. Maybe we can endeavor to add more structure to our spiritual practice (Saturn in Pisces). Maybe we can start listening to the messages in our dreams. Maybe it is time to dissolve the old and imagine the new.

What stands out about this New Moon is the ingress of Mercury (mind, communication) into Aries (self). While we are feeling the dissolution of our egos and sense of self (Sun in Pisces), our minds (Mercury in Aries) are doing double-time trying to reformulate a disintegrating identity. Who am I now? What am I meant to do? How do I assert myself if I don’t have the answers to these questions?

Mercury is ruled by Mars in Aquarius, so if we are able to address these questions, the answers will likely be unusual, progressive, and provocative. If we lean into this energy, it is an excellent time to think about a new way of showing up in the world, especially with Uranus in Taurus making a tight sextile aspect to the New Moon. If we push against this energy, we may find ourselves grasping onto old worn-out ideas/identities that have reached their natural end.

However we experience this New Moon, let’s not make any rash moves (a challenge for Mercury in Aries). Eclipse season is nearly upon us (March 25th and April 8th), so it is wise to grant the eclipses the space to shift things as needed before making major changes of our own.

Again, remember that we are still grappling with Chiron conjunct the North Node. You can read my last few blogs where I go into more detail about this aspect. In short, the time is ripe to heal old wounds around personal sovereignty and sense of self . . . especially ahead of the upcoming eclipse season.

Tarot Cards: Two of Wands and the Unicorn

I am still drawn to the Oriens deck by Ambi Sun as well as the Animal Spirit Deck by Kim Kranz. And these two cards complement each other well.

The Two of Wands speaks to a mercurial choice-point within a fiery Aries environment. Do we lean into the uncertainty of a shifting identity, or do we hold tight to what we know? The Unicorn represents that Piscean realm from which Mercury just emerged . . . and it serves as a sixth chakra activation helping us navigate these choices with spiritual insight.

On this Piscean New Moon, we are asked to unlock our third eye and tap into divine wisdom. This will carry us forward in harmony with the shifting currents . . . like a fish swimming in an ocean or birds riding the jet stream. If we continue to navigate with human eyes, we may perpetuate the same old fear-based choices that keep us stuck in an endless struggle. Let's follow Unicorns, instead.

With Love and Moonlight
