May Energy Overview

Happy May 2016!!

As you can see, I’m trying out a new spread this month. The primary reason for this change is time management. April was a very busy month for me and I just didn’t have time for the intricate Celtic Cross readings. I still, however, wanted to deliver a quality reading, so I came up with a new four-card spread. This is shorter, punchier, and I hope equally helpful! The first card reflects your dominant emotional state for the month. The second card is the highlight, or anything positive that occurs during the month. The third card is the lowlight, which symbolizes any challenge or obstacle you may face during the month. The last card is the outcome, or the energy closing the month. May begins with 5 planets in retrograde, so it is a great time for rethinking, reworking, and re-evaluating our lives and how they are structured. Mercury is retrograde in Taurus which, in general, rules our money, possessions, and values. It is a great time to critically analyze how accurately our external world is reflecting our inner values. Are they still aligned? Are we putting our time and energy into the things we care about most? Or do we need to do a little spring cleaning and throw out those obligations, projects, and people that no longer serve our highest good? Mars is the planet of war, initiation, and bold action. When in retrograde, those signs that are normally action oriented can experience a bit of a slow-down, while those signs that are normally slow to act or react can begin to feel a little more intensity in their world.

Interestingly, 50% of the signs have a ‘Wand’ card in the first position and 50% of the signs have a ‘Court’ card in the second position. This indicates that people are going to be feeling passionate, excited, and optimistic this month and will likely experience a good degree of support and enthusiasm from those around them. Many of the signs have a ‘Pentacle’ card in the third position. This makes sense given a retrograde Mercury in Taurus, a money sign. This doesn’t necessarily mean monetary loss. It could (and likely does) simply underscore a collective need to evaluate where our money, time, and energy are going and the need to restructure our lives to better reflect our authentic selves. Finally, the most common number this month is 2 and the most common card is the King. This is encouraging us to make decisions with confidence and authority as we begin the process of realigning our inner and outer worlds.
